Hertz History

Carl F. Hertz, the founder of Hertz Farm Management, began in the farm management business in 1934 after graduating in Agriculture from Iowa State University. In 1937, he started the first formal professional farm management office in Iowa and in 1946 began his own business. In 1939, he became one of the first Accredited Farm Managers in the United States. Carl passed away on June 15, 2005, but the company is committed to providing the highest-quality and most personal service available. Primary services include professional farm management, real estate sales, auctions, acquisitions, and farm appraisals.

Growth

The growth of Hertz Farm Management has come primarily from referrals of satisfied clients and ag-related businesses. Its highly trained and experienced staff are available to provide a client with prompt, personalized service. The expertise and longevity of its staff have allowed continuity of management; and, at the present time, there is combined farm management experience of over 800 years within the organization. Hertz Farm Management manages over 2,000 farms consisting of over 480,000 acres throughout the Midwest.

Continued Excellence

All of the professionals within the organization continually update their knowledge of agricultural technology and techniques so that they are able to maintain a competitive edge and efficiently and profitably adjust to changes within agriculture. Hertz professionals have made a commitment to provide leadership within their respective professional societies. They have served as national and state presidents within the various farm management, appraisal, and real estate organizations. Starting as a one man office in 1946, the organization has grown to a management and investment services staff of over 100 professionals, in addition to the hundreds of farm operators presently supervised. Offices in Iowa include Nevada, Mason City, Humboldt, Mt. Vernon, Waterloo, New Market, Strawberry Point, and Oakland. Offices in Illinois are located in Monticello, Dekalb, and Geneseo. Offices in Nebraska are located in Omaha, and Norfolk. Indiana has an office in Frankfort.

Theory

Our theory is that today's farm investors, heirs, and trust managers want more than just someone to keep an eye on the place. In keeping with this philosophy, our management decisions are based on a client's personal goals and objectives of farm ownership.

Conclusion

This is the Hertz story--a group of knowledgeable, dedicated professionals whose goal is to help clients maximize profit from their farm or agricultural investment.
