Holstine Elected President

Hertz Farm Manager to Lead National Society


Bill Holstine, AFM, ARA, AAC

Bill Holstine, a veteran Accredited Farm Manager, appraiser, consultant and real estate broker with Hertz Farm Management, has been elected national president of the American Society of Agricultural Consultants (ASAC). He took office in late October at the annual conference in St. Louis.

Founded in 1963, the ASAC is the largest organization of internationally experienced ag consultants.

As a 7-year national ASAC board member, Bill previously served as president-elect, chairman of the education and certification committees and in several other capacities within the organization. He has also served as the Iowa chapter president of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) and on the State board of the Iowa Appraisal Council.

Among many other professional accomplishments over his 29-year career, Bill earned the ASFMRA's coveted Farm Manager of the Year award in 1989. He has achieved national accreditation as a farm manager, rural appraiser and agricultural consultant, and is a Certified General Real Property Appraiser. Bill joined Hertz in 1974, and works out of the Nevada, IA office.


 


Hertz Farm Managers Achieve Professional Accreditation

Stan Lierz, AFM

Two more Hertz Farm Managers have joined the ranks of a nationally-accredited program that promotes excellence in farm management. Stan Lierz and To m Carlson recently earned Accredited Farm Manager (AFM) certification from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA).

The ASFMRA awards the certification to members who meet specific skill and experience levels, complete a rigorous schedule of courses and submit a farm management plan. Candidates must have five years of active farm or ranch management experience and have earned a four-year degree or equivalent.

Stan has worked with Hertz Farm Management clients since 1999 from the Omaha, NE office as a farm manager, real estate agent and consultant. He is a licensed real estate broker in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. He grew up on a grain and livestock farm in northeast Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. Prior to joining Hertz, Stan spent 14 years with ConAgra Flour Milling Company and eight more years as a flour mill plant manager in Nebraska and Pennsylvania.

Tom Carlson, AFM

Tom has worked with Hertz Farm Management clients since 1998 from the Humboldt, IA office. In addition to farm management, he is licensed as a real estate broker in Iowa. After graduating in 1996 from the Iowa State University Agriculture Business program, Tom worked as an ag loan officer. He grew up on the family farm in northeast Iowa, and continues to participate in the family's row crop farming operation.
