Jim was been the President of Hertz Farm Management since 1988 until 2000. He joined the firm in 1964, and has helped build Hertz Farm Management’s reputation as a complete, personalized, hands-on service company with experienced, dedicated professionals. On November 14, 1993, Jim was installed as the 57th President of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Jim has been recognized numerous times for his efforts in soil and water conservation, including the State of Iowa Soil Conservation Award for farm managers, two National Farm Management Conservation Awards in 1989 and 1993 from NACD and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and the Farm Manager of the Year Award in 1988 from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and CIBA Geigy. Jim is a member of the Board of Governors for the Iowa State University Foundation. He has served as President of numerous community organizations including Story County Hospital Foundation and Nevada Rotary. He is also an active member of the Nevada United Methodist Church. Jim and his wife, Clare, have a son and daughter as well as four grandchildren.
