Randy Piittmann
Professional Farm Manager
Real Estate Broker - Iowa

“My primary goal as a Professional Farm Manager is to maximize the owner’s net income while maintaining an equitable arrangement with the farm operators.”

Randy brings a wealth and diversity of agriculture experiences and know-how to the Hertz team. After a brief time as an independent contractor erecting grain bins, buildings and drying equipment, Randy operated 640 acres at Hancock, Iowa for nearly 10 years. He increased yields 20-25% and increased profitability by innovative ideas, growing speciality crops and purebred hogs. Since leaving the farm in 1985, he has been active in farm management, real estate sales, consulting and appraising.

In his 4-H days, Randy held the office of president in club and county. During this time, he also excelled in winning top honors in livestock production at county, state and regional shows. Randy served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Randy was brought up on a grain and livestock farm in Southwest Iowa. Randy and his wife, Barbara, make their home north of Oakland, Iowa, where they are raising their three sons, James, Andrew, and Eric. He and his family stay active in community affairs. He is on the Pottawattamie County Fair Board and the 4-H Livestock Sale Committee. He currently owns 120 acres and rents 120 acres, which are custom farmed. When not working, Randy enjoys doing woodworking projects with his boys.
